When I was in 7th or 8th grade, I pretended to be sick so I could stay home from school. After a little while, I was bored, so I picked up a book. I read The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. I didn't love it or anything, but by around 2:30 or so that day, I finished it. I felt like such an adult for reading it, if not a little nerdy for wasting my ditched day. (Though what can you do when you're staying home at 13 anyway?) I just remembered that and I thought I'd share with my Adventure-starved friends....
Don't worry, I'll get to the lambs soon enough....

Funny. I once checked The Catcher and the Rye out of the library when I was around the same age. I felt so "grown up" for choosing it...and not a Sweet Valley High one.
(this post has become the Confessional for nerdy birds suddenly...)
Cara, you are a nerd! But I love you nonetheless. Thanks for the HILARIOUS comment on my blog, and don't worry i will remove the picture of you asap, (wouldn't want any trouble if you know what I mean). j/k !! :-)
yeah dude - you're a nerd.
but on that nerdy note. My oldest son is a nerd. He read 20,000 leagues under the sea when he was like 5. What a wierdo.
I'd always fake sick and watch "Gone With the Wind". It's my fave. My first grown up book was a Daniele Steele book. Naughty, naughty.
I love it!! I to did this!! I read Where the Red Fern Grows. It was the first book I read that wasn't a have to for school!! I was so proud of myself!!
Now I just WISH I had the time to read books
