Nerdy Bird

When I was in 7th or 8th grade, I pretended to be sick so I could stay home from school. After a little while, I was bored, so I picked up a book. I read The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. I didn't love it or anything, but by around 2:30 or so that day, I finished it. I felt like such an adult for reading it, if not a little nerdy for wasting my ditched day. (Though what can you do when you're staying home at 13 anyway?) I just remembered that and I thought I'd share with my Adventure-starved friends....

Don't worry, I'll get to the lambs soon enough....

Funny. I once checked The Catcher and the Rye out of the library when I was around the same age. I felt so "grown up" for choosing it...and not a Sweet Valley High one.

(this post has become the Confessional for nerdy birds suddenly...)

I'd always fake sick and watch "Gone With the Wind". It's my fave. My first grown up book was a Daniele Steele book. Naughty, naughty.
